Patrick is probably best known to the general public as apresenter of the Adventure Show on BBC Scotland. In Wikipedia he is describedas an Olympic Cross-Country Skier. In the world of Sea Kayaking he is a legend.
In 2006 he paddled from Glasgow to Mingulay, St Kilda, TheFlannans, Butt of Lewis, Cape Wrath, the Orkneys, Fair Isle and the Shetlandsall in one Trip!
Most famously in 2009, after sickness ended the 2008attempt, he undertook a six week trip following the voyage of St Brendan fromWales, around Ireland and up western Scotland to the Outer Hebrides. From Ness inthe far North of Lewis, accompanied by Mick Berwick he crossed the 80 miles ofopen sea to the rock that constitutes North Rona and from there paddled the 200mile, 3 day open crossing of the North Atlantic to the Faroes. They usedTiderace Xplore sea kayaks; how do you survive 3 days sitting in a sea kayak?
This amazing trip was then followed in 2011 by an attempt tocross the 210 miles of the North Sea from Shetland to Norway; the Shetland Busroute. After a couple of failures, in 2013 this was achieved with Ollie Hicksin a double sea kayak in an incredible time of 62 hours.
Just one more; how about a short paddle to St Kilda in 2017accompanying a blind man on a paddle board!
